Welcome! It is our pleasure to welcome you to the New 'N Towne Web site. This site will serve as a way for current and future members of New 'N Towne to communicate about both the club and what's happening in Medfield. The New 'N Towne Club of Medfield began as an independent organization in 1969, having formerly been part of Welcome Wagon International. Today, it is a non-profit group whose aim is to provide community activities and social contacts during a time of transition into a new community.
President's MessageHappy February everyone! I hope that you are all well. We have a lot of great activities planned for this month, so please read the newsletter carefully to see what appeals to you. I would like to highlight a few things... First, please join us at the Medfield Public Library at 5:30 pm on Feb. 7th to make Valentine's for the sick children currently be treated at the Jimmy Fund Clinicand for our senior neighbors at the Thomas Upham House. We're hoping to make at least 60 Valentine's this year. This is a fun-filled, feel good, family event with crafts, stories and snacks for all, so please bring even your littlest ones and join us. Second, NNT will be holding it's annual Pot Luck Brunch on Feb. 16th from 11am-1:30 pm at the home of Colleen Hawley. Please keep an eye out for the Evite. Third, NNT will be holding its annual make-your-own sundaes Ice Cream Social early next month on Mar. 3rd at Wheelock cafeteria from 2-4 pm. Award winner Stacey Peasley will be entertaining us with music and dancing, so please fill out the registration form attached to the newsletter and join us. Fourth, if you have not yet done so and would like to attend our annual All Member Cocktail Party at the Sherborn Inn on Mar. 24th, please RSVP to Kevin Gallagher ASAP. Space is limited and the invitation will open up to NNT alumni later this month, so please RSVP now to ensure your spot. Finally, some of you may have attended our annual meeting last Spring where we heard a presentation by a member of the town's Energy Committee about energy initiatives and grants in and for the town of Medfield. The Committee recently contacted me to inform me that a company will be driving around Medfield this week conducting free thermal imaging of homes in various neighborhoods to show residents if their homes are losing heat. There is no guarantee that your home will be imaged, but you can increase the likelihood that it will be by signing up at www.sagewell.com/medfield. NNT has no position on this program, but the program is recommended by the Medfield Energy Committee, the Medfield Board of Selectmen, and Medfield Green. For those of you who did not see the article in this week's paper, you can find more information at http://hometownweekly.net/residents-show-strong-interest-in-thermal-imaging-to-detect-home-heat-loss-p7124-133.htm. Hope to see you soon! Erin Fontana

Volunteers NeededBoard Members Needed for next FallIt's hard to believe that we are already looking to fill next year's NNT Board Positions. If you are interested in learning about the New N' Towne Board, please let me know! NNT is run by a wonderful group of volunteers, we meet once a month, and no prior experience is required. Being on the board is a wonderful way to meet some really great people while helping our organization run! We are opening up our January board meeting to ALL members so you can see what is involved in each position, and get a look behind the scenes! I can say that, from my personal experience, being in involved on the board has led to wonderful friendships, many laughs, and a great sense of accomplishment when we distribute the funds we have raised throughout the year. New N' Towne is truly a wonderful organization, and being on the Board is a wonderful opportunity to continue its great tradition in Medfield. Please send me an email at claudiarosen at gmail.com if you are interested in a board position or to be on nominating committee. Please click here to see all the information!>> |
